If you’re looking for a new luxury apartment, you might be surprised to know that now you can actually purchase one with bitcoins.

Recently, Dubai had announced an apartment project where Bitcoin owners can purchase these chic apartments.

Well, Turkey isn’t far behind as the owner of the MiaVita Beytepe project in Ankara, Turkey just announced that their very own luxury apartments are available for purchase using the digital currency.

Erdal Daldaban, the project manager firm owner, had enthusiastically said:

“We decided to make sales via Bitcoin, which has recently attracted the attention of Turkish investors with its recent value route, considering that we could also attract the attention of our customers who appreciate their investments like this.”

Why Bitcoin?

Daldaban says this is the reasonable next step:

“Bitcoin and digital money has become an element that can no longer be ignored by the global economy.”

This is mainly because of its current value in the market and the increase in its adoption around the world.

During last week, a home in Austin, Texas was bought using bitcoin news and a house in London was put up for sale on a minimum price of 500 bitcoins.

Enigma, a cryptocurrency investment platform was miserably hacked on August 21st, during their training for a crypto-token sale for their Initial coin (Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.) offering (ICO). It was meant to be a method of raising capital using digital currencies. that would be launched on 11 September.

Unfortunately, the company’s website, slack accounts and mailing lists were overtaken by hackers. Furthermore, the website was changed and many fake emails and messages were sent to visitors and those interested, influencing them to deposit money.

ethereum exchange

It was reported by TechCrunch that the $500,000 worth of Ethereum currency stolen was not from the company alone, but the large Enigma community with their slack members, mailing list, and Ethereum exchange. That’s a shocker since the Enigma staff had imposed a strict warning that they would never request for money this way yet, a large amount of the digital currency was stolen.

Highlight The Security Errors:

When it comes to thinking how such an attack could be carried out, reports prove that there were some weak points like two-factor authentication missing from the affected channels. There must’ve been a leakage of at least one of the account passwords, which would lead to this.

The company has broadcasted temporary closing of its Slack channel.

Online Internet Security – 10 Do’s And Don’ts To Stay Safe On Internet

Want create site? Find Free WordPress Themes and plugins.

Tor is an open network and a free software which allows people to enjoy maximum level of security and privacy on the internet. Nothing comes close to Tor when it comes to hiding your identity while surfing the internet.

Tor hides your personal identity by routing your system’s internet traffic over several places on the internet. However, there are still some loopholes that you may want to eradicate in order to steer clear from any monitoring agencies.

In this article, we have discussed 5 Do’s and 5 Don’ts to enhance your online safety.

Related: Beginner’s Guide to Tor

Do’s To Increase Your Online Safety:

  1. Use Tor:

Anyone who is skeptical of the online privacy should never put his trust into people at the back of the internet such as ISPs, web service providers, government agencies, etc. Tor is the best browser for online anonymity and that’s the biggest reason why we recommend using it.

  1. Update Your System:

Tor is just another software which runs on top of your OS. Meaning that it is only as safe and secure as the system it runs on. We advise you to daily update your OS, Tor client, browser, email clients, instant messaging clients, etc.

If somehow, a hacker is able to get hold of your OS, then even Tor can’t protect your online privacy.

Related: The Truth Behind Whether Tor Browser Is Completely Anonymous Or Not

  1. Encrypt Your Data Storage:

Although Tor anonymizes your location, it does nothing to secure the digital data on your computer. Data protection on your system can only be achieved if you keep the data in encrypted form. So, make sure you use a strong encryption algorithm such as LUKS to keep your system from various threats.

  1. Disable Flash, Java, and JavaScript:

Using Tor with Java, Flash, and JavaSript leaves your data vulnerable to attackers. This is because these applications run with user account’s privileges which allow them to access/share your data.

  1. Delete Cookies And Local Data Of Site:

Tor browser hides your real identity using network packets and routes your traffic through numerous relays to protect you from traffic analysis. However, some websites may still be able to track your activities using cookies and data storage. In order to go complete anonymous, make sure your cookies and site’s local data is disabled.

5 Don’ts To Increase Your Online Safety:

  1. Do not use windows:

Windows is simply not best of the choices to improve your online privacy. The OS comes with several bugs and the loopholes that are present in the system and may leave you vulnerable to security issues. Rather use a Linux system for better Tor experience.

  1. Avoid Using HTTP Websites:

The onion router is only a traffic router and does not encrypt the network traffic through the internet. This means that the origin of your network traffic is only anonymized inside the tor network and not outside of it; which results in exit nodes of Tor reading your internet traffic in the form of unencrypted data. The best way to avoid this is using end-to-end encryption such as TLS or SSL while on Tor.

  1. Do Not Use Tor Browser Bundle:

Do not use Tor browser bundle for online privacy under any circumstances. A recent FBI breakdown of freedom hosting (a hidden web hosting service running on Tor network) was only possible due to vulnerabilities of Tor browser bundle. So, make sure you are not using this bundle.

  1. Do Not Use P2P:

Tor network is not built for P2P file sharing as the exit nodes of the network are specifically meant to block file sharing. Plus, downloading torrents is considered abuse to the Tor network as it slows down the speed for other users browsing on the network and increases the threat to your online privacy. So it’s better to not use P2P on Tor.

  1. Do Not Use Google:

If you care about your privacy, do not use Google at all. Google is infamous for collecting user information and browsing data to aid the growth of its ads revenue. The best alternatives to Google for Tor are DuckDuckGo and StartPage.

Conclusion:

It’s not easy to steer clear when everyone is after your privacy. Despite all its vulnerabilities and weakness, Tor is still the best privacy tool we have for our online security. However, in order to bypass all these security threats, just follow the Do’s and Don’ts discussed above and you will be good to go.

Want create site? Find Free WordPress Themes and plugins.

As investors look for a safe place to store their assets, Ethereum – the second largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin – is getting a boost, thanks to Putin’s endorsement of the currency.

The Main Story:

Ethereum continues to skyrocket after the Singapore government and the Russian president Vladimir Putin publicly showed their support to the currency. The latest Monday morning saw the currency trading at $407.10, a record rise of more than 5000% since the start of 2017, where Ethereum was trading at just $7.98.

The Russian president and Vitalik Buterin – founder of Ethereum – recently had a meeting during St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. According to some experts, the occurrence of this meeting suggests that Russia is willing to open its doors to using cryptocurrency in an attempt to make their economy less dependent on oil and gas.

“The digital economy isn’t a separate industry, it’s essentially the foundation for creating brand new business models,” said Putin at the forum.

The recent shift in Putin’s stance has had an immediate impact as the Russian entities such as the State Development Bank VEB, have agreed to use Ethereum.

Meanwhile, the government of Singapore has also released a report about their recent attempts of using Ethereum blockchain and creating their own digital currency.

Japan is also issuing new rules about making Ethereum a valid form of payment. Some major companies such as Microsoft and Toyota have shown their support for Ethereum too.

In conclusion, Ethereum is getting support from all across the globe and is likely to experience even more boost in the coming days. So, if you are looking for a safe digital investment option, Ethereum is the way to go.

What we Learnt from 5 Major Bitcoin Crashes

Want create site? Find Free WordPress Themes and plugins.

September isn’t even over yet and bitcoin has already shown three different reactions. From starting off with a $5,000 hit, then falling by 40%, and then recovering back to the $4,000 mark by Monday morning.

This post is going to add more light to some of the major bitcoin crashes we’ve experienced regarding bitcoin. In the end, we might be able to come up with possible reasons as to why bitcoin is so volatile and what predictions can be made for it in the future.

April 2013 – The Meltdown:

Back in spring of 2013, Bitcoin experienced a ginormous drop from $233 to $67 overnight. Which is a 71% drop.

The crash took place right after the currency was experiencing a surge of media coverage which drove it to above $200. While the currency had never crossed $15 before 2013, the mainstream led it to a new height, only to watch it fall down to a double-digit again.

Bitcoin Crash in 2013:

The majority of 2013, Bitcoin’s value was around $120. But, the prices boosted ten-fold in the fall and Bitcoin hit a mark of $1,150 in November. Then the prices came tumbling down to lower than $500 by mid-December.

This price chase was actually because many investors were experimenting with bitcoin for the first time. Also, exchanges like Coinbase had a simple user interface which made it easier for users to buy bitcoin.

The Mt. Gox Tragedy of 2014:

Once again, Bitcoin was on a roll, making great gains again after the 2013 bubble pop situation when in February, the price fell from $867 to $439. This triggered a slow phase for bitcoin that went on till late 2016.

This crash took place after the operator of Mt. Gox announced the exchange had been hacked. They later revealed that around 850,000 bitcoins were stolen which would be worth around $3.5 billion today. Furthermore, this incident created major doubts about the security of this digital currency and is responsible for the low-lying value of bitcoin the past couple of years.

Bitcoin’s Big Break in 2017:

Bitcoin price history: Back in early January, bitcoin crossed the $1000 mark after years and began driving up exponentially. By June, the cryptocurrency had reached $3000 however, it fell right back and landed at $1,869 during mid-July.

With the increase in demand for bitcoin and number of transactions, people began to notice that the digital currency was getting slower. Especially with its developers not being able to agree on how to update the software. This raised the speculations of a possible “fork” to occur which would be producing two different versions of bitcoin. Thus, the market experienced a fall and when the fork took place in August and produced a rival currency, Bitcoin Cash, no long-term harm was made to bitcoin.

The Great China Chill:

Once the market had settled over the fork and activation of SegWit2x, bitcoin had made another massive jump to $5,000 during the beginning of September. Only to plunge back down 37% and dusting off over $30 billion from its total market cap, by September 15. Although, it’s already on the track to recovery as its prices climbed to $4000 three days later.

Well, this can be summed in one word as CHINA. While there were numerous rumors as to how cryptocurrency trading would be banned in China, a response was given soon after as BTCChina, its largest bitcoin exchange, announced that it would be ending trade this month.

Lessons Learned from the 5 Crashes:

The last 5 years have included some heart-wrenching falls and drops that confirms how volatile the cryptocurrency is. Regardless of the reason being a major hack or a government crackdown, bitcoin has always managed to bound back. This is assuring for all those tensed bitcoin buyers who are planning to hold onto bitcoin for the long run. Today, the digital currency market is a lot bigger and is proving to stick around so, it appears that bitcoin is very well, a safe bet.
