So, what do all these people mean by investing or buying Bitcoin? Bitcoin is a currency. How do you want to invest in a currency? If it meant appreciating the value or trading it, we need to have a closer look at the insight first.

Buying and holding

Buying Bitcoin in hope that you will avail the opportunity cost or the value will appreciate, is known as ‘Hodling’. If this is the intention then you need to do your homework yourself beforehand. Study the nature and behavior of the currency. Study and observe the reasons it fluctuates and reacts according to the changing socio-economic natures around the world. Few points to account for;

  • It is a risky task to perform. Always risk the amount that you are okay loosing too. The tables are not always on your side.
  • Always transfer currency to the personal wallet. Never leave it on the exchange. It may result in scam or fraud.
  • Always choose reputable exchangers.
  • Use the method of cost averaging to buy Bitcoins.

Trading

If your aim is trading than it means you are an active participant in buying and selling the currency. You buy the cryptocurrency at lower rates and sell when the rates go up. Trading gives reward only through knowledge and practice.

Investing in Mining

If you are interested in Bitcoin mining and needs to invest in equipment to mine more Bitcoins, it’s not that easy of a task too. There is a lot of scams included in this act too. You may come across complete scams eating away all your currency. Or you may end up in bad investment companies by paying the sites for more coins. It’s basically all surrounded by risks and risks.

Investing bitcoin companies

If a company claims to double to your coins or give the reward that is too good to be true then maybe it is not true. These companies are mostly scams or HYIPS (High Yield Investment Programs). These sites promise untrue rewards and start by creating a referral program or a big buzz around on the site. Entertaining a few startups for a few months, these companies will vanish in the air in no time. There will be no compensation and people will be left crying over the lost bargain. You cannot trust a site fully to say it legit or trustworthy to the fullest.

Is it late to buy bitcoin?

The answer to this is not that simple yet not so complicated too. It totally depends on the understanding and knowledge of the currency. A decentralized, peer to peer electronic currency, controlled by no one but just by the consumer, can be so unreliable to put the bid on. The important is to know how to invest rather than thinking whether to invest or not. The only way out is to know the currency. To understand the knowledge and nature of the currency, its fluctuations and variations are all that counts to invest and make reward out of that investment.

New Twitter Policy

This Twitter ICO news went viral as the social media giant clarified:

“We have added a new policy for Twitter Ads relating to a cryptocurrency. Under this new policy, the advertisement of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) and token sales will be prohibited globally.”

This latest twitter policy will be introduced within the next 30 days. But on the other hand, Twitter will be limiting advertisement for cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan to those, who are under the observation of the national financial regulator.

There were many rumours before that Twitter would ban advertisements related to cryptocurrency especially, when it was first reported by Sky News that such content would be banned from the Twitter’s platform within the next two weeks.

What Jack Dorsey has to say about it?

CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has conceded the proliferation of cryptocurrency scam accounts earlier, and pledged to crack down on bot accounts in search of cryptocurrencies from others.

Though, some of the site’s response exertions have led to account issues for standard users. According to Twitter, safety for users is the main motivator behind this ban. Few actions were also taken by Twitter in order to prevent accounts related to cryptocurrencies from engaging with others in an illusory manner, but then again it met calls to ratify more actions, subsequent to the bans from Google and Facebook.

Impact of Twitter’s Announcement on Crypto-Market

Cryptocurrency markets were already going through a slump, but after the announcement of Twitter banning cryptocurrency advertisements, the market fell even more.

While talking to Reuters, Kapronasia’s director of financial consultancy, Zennon Kapron mentioned the perils to Twitter itself and said:

“With the increasing number of ICOs coming to market, it is an impossible task for anyone, much fewer platforms like Twitter or Facebook, to keep on top of which ICOs and cryptocurrencies are genuine versus frauds… Although certainly, ICO advertising must have been a significant source of revenue for Twitter, the repercussions of fraudulent activities just weren’t worth the risk.”

In January 2018, Facebook restricted cryptocurrency advertising while the ban from Google was announced at the beginning of this month.

Bank of England Governor Says, “Bitcoin Failed as a Currency so far”

Mark Carney (Bank of England governor) resisted lately that bitcoin has failed to be a legitimate currency estimated by the standard benchmarks, as it’s neither a store of value nor a useful medium of exchange.

At London’s Regent’s University, the central banker told students that bitcoin has failed to meet those “two-key” requirements to emerge as a legitimate currency. He said that during a live Q/A session. To him, the top-cryptocurrency has failed so far. He added, no one uses it like a medium of exchange as it’s not a store of value.

Business Insider noted, that bitcoin is a medium of exchange and it is acknowledged on the “dark web”. Even though its instability deters its acceptance, still hundreds of traders accept this cryptocurrency and these also include Microsoft and Overstock.

bitcoin has failed

Stripe, which is a payment processor, recently stepped away from the cryptocurrency and stated, that there were only few cases for which paying or accepting with the top-cryptocurrency (bitcoin) makes sense. Steam, which is a pretty famous gaming/digital distribution platform has stopped accepting bitcoin, due to high fees and instability in the price of Bitcoin.

The argument that bitcoin is a store of value is based on its volatility, so that if you are looking for investing in it, make sure that its price won’t fluctuate immensely. Even though the cryptocurrency has lately seen an increase in its value around about 30% in a week, government failures can almost wipe out the fiat currencies. In countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe, where fiat currencies failed to emerge as a legitimate cryptocurrency, bitcoin trades at the top.

Mark Caney Views on Bitcoin:

Mark Carney’s remarks are not really surprising and fall in accordance with those central bankers/Wall Street personalities, who’ve been recently assessing the bitcoin and the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Head of the Bundesbank, Jens Weidmann, lately argued that exchanging fiat with bitcoin is quite hazardous. He also stated, that for stabilizing monetary and economic system, we do not need crypto-tokens.

In the beginning of this month, board member of European Central Bank, Yves Mersch said, cryptocurrencies are not money, while Bank of International Settlements general manager, Agustin Carstens, argued that bitcoin was just a “bubble”, in which global stock markets were losing trillions of dollars.
At the same time, the head of South Korea’s financial regulator has confirmed the government is finally going to support cryptocurrency trading while promoting banks to enable transactions with exchanges.

litecoin price drops

The current decline in the price of Litecoin appears to be related to the planned launch of LitePay (fintech startup), which was planned to take place on 26th February, but was partially postponed at the last minute and delayed indeterminately.

According to a report, LitePay is intended to offer a solution based on LTC payments that will make it quite simple for traders to accept Litecoin. This service will also issue a debit card, which will be LTC-funded, letting the users to circuitously spend their coins at almost any business.

The statement that LitePay would be launched on 26th February, led to a momentous Litecoin price rally. Though, the company also sent an email to its users just ahead of the planned launch, notifying them that an essential factor of the firm’s business model which is the “LTC-funded debit card” had been postponed indeterminately due to the antagonistic activities by card issuers towards crypto communities.

It is also said by LitPay, that it will open trader’s registration as planned, however, the indeterminate delay on the debit card service of it, caught lots of users by unexpectedly and have likely contributed to the bad performance of Litcoin today.
